Therapeutic Approaches
It probably comes as no surprise that various counsellors approach counselling in different ways. These distinctions result from a number of factors, including their training, their professional experience, their individual preferences, and their worldviews.
A therapeutic approach is the theoretical framework through which a psychologist or counsellor views interpersonal interactions and the problems that people face throughout their lives. A therapeutic approach can be thought of as the frame through which a therapist views and addresses the issue facing one of their clients.
My Therapeutic Approaches include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:
We will identify the negative thought patterns that get in your way and learn how to replace these patterns with healthier, more functional ones.
Strength-Based Counseling:
With your past trauma, depressive symptoms, or anxious thoughts – you’ve probably forgotten what an awesome human being you are. We will uncover, or perhaps, rediscover your character strengths and harness them to get you to where you want to be.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing):
I am EMDR –certified. I will help you reprocess your traumatic experiences so when the memories surface, you’ll say to yourself “ that happened to me, but that’s in the past.”
Here are some videos to help you understand more about EMDR:

Healing of the Inner Child:
Much of our anxious thoughts, depressive symptoms have origins in our childhood. In a safe, gentle way, I will walk with you to heal the emotional wounds that were inflicted on you when you were a child – when you had no voice to protest, and had no control over what was happening to you.
Mindfulness-based Therapy:
I will teach you how to ground your body when intense emotions surface.
