Nina F. Angeles-
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC),
National Certified Counselor (NCC)
My clinical experience includes internships at the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing in Washington, D.C. and Virginia Hospital Center. At the Wendt Center which is a nationally recognized center for trauma, grief and loss, my clients included children, teens, and adults with multiple traumas such as sexual assault, domestic abuse, childhood neglect, physical and sexual abuse and the loss of family members to homicide and suicide. At the Virginia Hospital Center, I supported patients who were in the end stages of life.
I was also a Crisis Grief Counselor at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) of Washington D.C. . At the OCME, I assisted individuals and families identify the remains of their deceased loved ones. Though challenging, my time at the OCME was one of the most significant and influential experiences of my life.
My counseling practice is based on the Lord’s promise as stated in Isaiah 61:1-3 – where he said he turns ashes into beauty, and exchanges our grief and despair for His joy and praise. I particularly like helping those who experience anxiety and despair as a result of unresolved trauma, such as sexual, emotional, and physical abuse during childhood. My greatest joy comes from watching clients let go of the hurt from the past and live fully in the present.
